Welcome to the Lou Fusz Soccer Club!
We are pleased you are a member of our organization and we hope it will be a long & enjoyable relationship. This information has been designed to help you get to know us a little better and to understand the core of our existence. This core, or philosophy of the club, was molded after the already successful philosophy of the Lou Fusz Automotive Network. As a member of our team: coaches, parents and players, it is our hope that we all strive to live by these principles.
THE FUSZ AUTOMOTIVE NETWORK PHILOSOPHY
WE BELIEVE that by treating people fairly and with respect, our business will prosper. In order to do this, we as owners must treat our employees this way, and our employees will reflect this treatment to our customers.
WE BELIEVE that hard work will be rewarded. If you put forth the effort, sooner or later, the benefit of your labor will surface. We believe, also, that it is our responsibility to give you the opportunity to excel, and when we succeed, we will share the fruits of our labor.
WE BELIEVE that work is fun. You must enjoy what you are doing in order to do your best. It is our responsibility to provide the proper atmosphere for this enjoyment.
WE BELIEVE that being the best in a particular field is fun. We love to WIN!
WE BELIEVE there will never be a time when we have reached our peak. We constantly reset goals; we must not relax. If we don’t move forward, we are moving backward. Our business depends on each and every person that is employed here. A team approach will make a difference. The Good Lord has blessed us. Always remember that.
Pete Fusz—Club President
Pete Fusz, the son of Lou Fusz Jr., began his career with the Lou Fusz Soccer Club in 1992 when he joined the clubs first team. With Don Popovic as his coach and mentor, Pete was an all-state performer at Chaminade, participated in both the Olympic Development Program and the Adidas Elite Soccer Program. Continuing his soccer career, Pete played in college for the Georgetown Hoyas. Upon graduating, Pete returned to the Lou Fusz Automotive Network to help his father with the business as General Manager of its’ Mazda Location, the President of the Lou Fusz Soccer Club, and Vice President of Lou Fusz Automotive Network guiding the organization very quickly to be the leader of Pre-Owned Sales in the State of Missouri and top 50 in the country. In Early 2014, the leadership of the automotive network transitioned to Pete and his 3 brothers Patrick (New Cars), Lou III (fixed operations), and Randy as our beloved President and CEO. We have learned the power of a positive attitude and the extreme value of teamwork when done correctly and it’s our mission to teach our young athletes the same. Pete has an incredible passion for helping the children of St. Louis get the best experience possible by learning soccer skills, and more importantly life skills that will help them succeed after soccer.
Dan Gargan—General Manager of Lou Fusz Athletic
Dan Gargan has seen lots of success in his soccer career. Starting out playing for his high school, Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia, his team had back-to-back wins in the Interacademic League Championship. Gargan held the titles of all state, team, and league MVP for these games. Attending Georgetown University, he continued playing soccer as a member of the Georgetown Hoyas. As part of this team, Gargan’s honors include team MVP and captain for his last two years on the team. Graduating from college, he was drafted by the Colorado Rapids in 2005 and was awarded the “Rapids Most Improved Player” title. More of his professional career involves his time playing for the Puerto Rico Islanders, Toronto FC, Chicago Fire, San Jose Earthquakes, and LA Galaxy. Gargan has played all positions in both the midfield and backfield lines throughout his professional career. As a professional player, the club has an opportunity for incredible leadership and guidance for both new coaches and players. “Coupling the visions of the Fusz family, with feedback from parents, players, and coaches; we will step forward together into the next stages of our club.”
Don “Pops” Popovic—Soccer Club Director
“The most important aspect of coaching young soccer players is to create an environment focusing on learning, development and having fun.”
Don Popovic has been playing soccer since 1958, starting in Yugoslavia and eventually moving to play in the United States. Don has been a player for the St. Louis Stars, the Kansas City Spurs, the Toronto White Eagles and the Canadian National Team.
