David Critchley is the Technical Director of Lou Fusz Athletic and has been a coach for 9 years. He is currently working on getting his A license with US Soccer and had played as Center Midfield for 15 years prior to becoming a coach. His greatest strength is humility and his favorite athlete is Jurgen Klopp for his management and motivational skills. His greatest accomplishment as a coach has been helping to make others better people and better players. His favorite thing about the game of soccer is connecting people from all different backgrounds/walks of life. He also believes that your biggest challenge can be your best lesson and teach you the most.

Coach of the Month 2019

Beth Rapoff
LFA WhiteStar McDevitt 08G
Coach Rapoff is a home grown Lou Fusz Coach, starting in The Fusz Fall Outdoor Program in 2015 for the U12 Girls LFA WhiteStar McDevitt 08 group. She holds 3 National Soccer Licenses and holds a National D license. Her “Soccer Family” approach to her team as a whole and her “Soccer Sisters” approach to the girls in both practices and games has developed a tight knit group willing to do whatever it takes to support each other on and off the pitch.
After High School Beth took her talents to The University of Evansville in their first year as a D1 Women’s program, where she started as a Freshman and solidified the Back 4 in all defensive positions, all while pursing her other passion; Education. Beth grew up across the Mississippi River in Granite City and played Club Ball for the Jamestown Stars, Club Irish and Norco. As a 3 year High School Starter and 2 year Captain, Beth lead her Granite City Teams to 3 State Appearances, earned All-Metro honors, All-State Team distinctions and was part of her team’s induction into the Granite City's Sports Hall of Fame in November 2019.

Coach of the month

Patrick McVey
LFA McKee/McVey Blue 03G
The McKee/McVey Blue 03 girls have elevated our club to new heights this year by winning the USYS National Championships. McVey played an integral part in preparing the girls to compete at the highest level of competition.
"Coaching for Lou Fusz is extremely rewarding - giving back to a family who has done so much for the St. Louis community is as well. Growing up with the Fusz family makes it even sweeter. Pat Fusz took me under his wing when I entered Chaminade as a young gun. I also have another Fusz as a life-long best friend, Joe Whitacre. Joe and I went to Chaminade together and eventually played on the West Point soccer team together. Coaching and developing kids under the Lou Fusz Athletic crest is an honor...winning a National Championship under that crest is not to bad either. Looking forward to the future at LFA. "

Coach of the Month 2019

Ryan Carron
LFA Carron 01
Carron's coaching career spans 18 years, 12 of those here with us at Lou Fusz Athletic. He started coaching to be a more involved part of his 3 sons sports lives and says it was one of the best decisions he has ever made. One of Coach Carron's greatest strengths, he says, is the fact that he is a people person. Getting to know his players, respecting who they are on and off the field and building friendships with 100's of them and their families throughout the years is something he is very proud of. Also, his greatest accomplishment as a coach is doing his best to guide his players in their soccer skills and making it to the State Cup Finals 6 times!

Coach of the Month 2019

Alex Moraes
LFA White Star Moraes 10G
I have been coaching for 5 years. Having been born and raised in the beautiful soccer nation of Honduras heavily influenced me to get into it. Although I played 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st Division soccer as a goalkeeper, I would always talk with my coaches about their training philosophy and the tactical perspective of the game. I knew I had to coach. The best part about coaching with Lou Fusz is meeting and developing players from different backgrounds. My coaching is not about winning or losing, but developing players mentally, physically, technically and tactically while having fun in the process.

Sean Taylor
Star Program
Sean has been a great asset to our star program. His passion for development and knowledge is fantastic, he’s currently on his USSF D license and has aspirations to move into his C at first opportunity.
I have been coaching for 4 years. I really wanted to be able to give the players better coaching and training than I received growing up.

Greg McGrudden
LFA Blue Star 09B
Greg is one of our Star program trainers and also head coaches the 2009 Blue Star Boys team. Greg has shown fantastic leadership throughout the season. Greg is always looking to advance the knowledge and wisdom of his players and consistently provides a wonderful learning experience to all.
From Greg himself, " I got into [coaching] because [soccer] has been the reason I’ve been able to travel so much and come live in the US, so it’s nice to give back to the youth of today." He played center midfield and was a winger for a short time as well.

Febraury COTM 2019 - Jacob Cawsey

Jacob Cawsey
LFA Blue Star Trainer
Jake is currently a LFA Blue Star trainer and works directly with our female athletes from 2008-2012 age groups. Jake is a key part in carrying out the curriculum and ensuring the girls are developing on and off the soccer field. When asked why he became a coach, he said "Some of the best role models in my life have been my coaches growing up in soccer. Once I got done playing I wanted to give back to as many people as possible in that same way because you never know what someone is going through."

January COTM 2019 - Chris Meyer

Chris Meyer
LFA Blue Star Red 08G
Coach Meyer has been coaching the 2008 Blue Star Red Girls for the past 3 years. He is a great teacher, technical trainer and game tactician. Meyer creates a positive environment for all of his players. Coach Meyer's teams have won the USYF Futsal Regionals 3 years in a row and have placed in the Premier SuperCopa. We appreciate your hard work and dedication, Coach Meyer!
